Our Ten-Year Reunion will be May 23-24 of 2009. Put it in
your PDAs, Sphinxes. And start saving now -- it looks like
the cost will be about...well, we don't know yet but we are
working hard to keep the costs down.
One way you can help to make reunion affordable and accessible
to everyone is to email your family and friends about our
Atkins care packages. We estimate that for every 1000 packages
Atkins sells in our name, each class member saves $25 to
come to reunion. Furthermore, we will use the proceeds to
make sure every class member who wants to attend, can attend
with financial assistance gathered from our Atkins fundraiser.
So, how is the planning going for the reunion? Since it's
four years away, it's safe to say we're working on it...soon.
We have already put some thought into the experience though:
We will probably partner with the Class of 2007 (ha, they
haven't even graduated yet--they're juniors next year!) on
some level, as they will be having their two-year reunion.
We'll have a huge shindig in the South Rocky living room
and sunroom (with lots of childcare) and then those who would
like to continue the party will go on to hang out with the
Classes of 2007 and 2009, whose party we may help support.
If you can recall our second-year reunion (and you almost
made it to the end of the night), you will remember that
we only ran out of beverage for both our class and the
graduating Class of 2001 in the wee hours of the night.
This is considered
a success story for second-year reunion. But what really
brought the evening home was the Class of 1991 because,
if you recall (while they were staying in the Rockies and
we
were in Mead) they had purchased an enormous amount of
beverage that no one drank because at age 31 or 32, a considerable
amount of the class had turned in early and the those staying
up late came over to the party we were throwing in Chapin
Auditorium. The Class of 1991 gave us all of their remaining
beverage (God bless them forevermore) and the party finished
on a grand note, sixteen year-old DJ--who wouldn't play "I
Will Survive" more than once--aside.
Also, your Class President thinks a wiffle ball game of
The Green (those who would say they lived on the green for
most of their years) vs. The Lakes (Upper and Lower people)
would be a fun to-do as well. Sweet Abbey/Buck dwellers,
you should go where your heart takes you. Then, if we're
feeling old(er) at all, we'll put our ex-softballers together
and whip the we-didn't-have-a-softball-team-when-we-went-to-Mount
Holyoke Class of 2007. Hence, we will feel very atheletic,
very cool, and will prove yet again (not just for our VP)
that we should have a softball team.
To get our wheels turning, we encourage everyone to write
in about the class gift that year. The near elimination
of M&C's in 2004 has led many to request an endowment
towards that wonderful tradition. Also, up for consideration:
ia
fund for students who need assistance purchasing books
for classes or a scholarship fund with paticularities of
our
choosing.
We need a variety of talent in the upcoming years, from
party planners to graphic designers. Don't worry! We'll fit
the job and time commitment to you.
