A
message from the class president:
September 14, 2008: Reunion planning is under
way in, unsurprisingly, a grand way when it comes to our class.
You can go to our facebook page to see pics from the weekend.
Besides late night trips to Antonio's and Noho, we got a lot
done. We're recruiting tons of class agents to help us reach
our $25,000 gift goal this year. (This sounds massive, we know,
but it's actually the standard 10 year gift.) I've picked two
awesome reunion co-chairs, Damaris Rivera and Carrie Ruzicka,
and they have pieced together a brilliant and fun committee
that is already at work on a Friday night BBQ by the lake and
a ferocious Saturday night shindig. Plans are set for much childcare
but we've heard tell the college doesn't offer evening childcare;
we're going to try and find some area babysitters' numbers to
help out on that front. Otherwise, it seems the rest of the
bits that compile our reunion experience are under construction
or already set in place for us. Oh, but PLEASE feel free to
pressure the college that we get a dorm on the green. In other
news, I moved into this great apartment with a deck--a miracle
in Brooklyn--and a squirrel just scared the living phoo out
of me. Whoa. What is with us and squirrels???

our Reunion Planning Committee
REQUEST
for Reunion Welcome Bag items Your Welcome Back experience to
MHC will include a “welcome bag” filled with light refreshments
and other fabulous things. I wanted to give you an opportunity
to help me fill it with items from your own business or organization.
Perhaps you work for a cosmetic company or maybe you can offer
products or discounts on merchandise or services from your own
company. If you have your own business or work for an organization
that would like to donate items for the bag, please contact
me at NLGBPC @ aol.com. The sky is the limit and we want to
make these bags as special as possible. We're expecting at least
135+ '99ers and want to include the same items so please keep
this in mind, but know we will accept donations of any quantity.
I look forward to hearing from you! Thank You -Nicole
PLEASE
PAY YOUR DUES (AND MAKE REUNION FINANCIALLY FEASIBLE FOR YOUR
CLASS)
We
need your $25 dues. Please mail them to Kate Gordon, Class of 1999, 111 100th
Street #206, Ocean City, MD 21842. ASAP. Please.
CLASS FUNDRAISER IS NO LONGER THE ATKINS
CARE PACKAGES
We loved sending Atkins Care Packages. Unfortunately due to
an unnecessary war and unsustainable energy initiatives, energy
costs have caused shipping cots to soar and the price of shipping
exceeded the cost of the package itself. We are presently working
on new fundraisers for us all and we may not have seen the last
of Atkins supporting the Class of 1999 just yet.
We want YOU!
- Become a Class
Agent and help us meet our goal of 50% participation

What's new at MHC:
- Penny
Gill is Dean of the College. She was Dean of Faculty while
Don O'Shea was on sabbatical. Now he's back.
Remember when the News put floating Don heads throughout
the April Fool's edition our senior year? Now that was funny.
- The
Plan for 2010 (the Plan for 2003 is over as the administration
never took lessons from us on procrastination...) is almost
complete. Fricking crazy, right?
- Many
seasons ago the newly redesigned Art Museum hosted: Diane
Arbus: Family Albums, a major traveling exhibition developed
by the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum in collaboration with
the Spencer Museum of Art at the University of Kansas, offers
an excellent introduction to the work of this pivotal and
controversial figure in American photography. The exhibition
came through years ago and was well received. For more information
go to www.mtholyoke.edu/offices/comm/csj/091203/arbus.shtml.
[Point of interest: I would delete this note but I know Kate
Gordon loves her so it remains.]
More importantly, any '99 artists we should make a push
to have hanging somewhere on
the campus, especially in that newly renovated
Art Museum?
